Review
The Nightmare before Christmas is the 3-D remastered version of the cult
animation released 13 years ago. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before
Christmas is a 1993 stop motion animated musical film about the
inhabitants of Halloween Town who take over Christmas one year based on
the drawings and a poem by Tim Burton, who was then working as an
animator with Disney.
The film was considered too dark to be released by Disney in 1993 but
now with its cult following and the major money Disney has made through
merchandising, this Christmas musical is now being directly released by
Disney. Tim Burton of Batman and Charlie and the Chocolate factory fame,
has always been known for his love of the off beat. His childhood
watching horror and classics like the Grinch who stole Christmas came up
with the framework of this classic Christmas cartoon.
The animation revolves around the Pumpkin King Jack. Bored with the
festival of Halloween and the monotony of Halloween Town he seeks to
take over Christmas and make his mark on that holiday. Although well
–intentioned unlike ‘The Grinch’ Jack fails to keep up the spirit of
Christmas. In the end, as with all Christmas movies, he saves the day,
rescues “Sandy Claws” from the villain Oogie Boogie and saves the day,
winning Sally’s love. While the first edition made $50 million in the
boxoffice, considering its popularity as a result of the video games and
trading cards not to mention other goodie, the film is set to make a
bundle in the weeks leading up to Jack’s festival (Halloween) and the
one he tried to improve (Christmas).
Disney also plans to release a special two-disc soundtrack on October
24th for the film re-release. It features musical artists such as Fall
Out Boy, Marilyn Manson, Panic! At The Disco, Fiona Apple and She Wants
Revenge. They’ll be contributing cover versions of classic songs
featured in the animation. |
