Review:
Amitabh
Bachchan has romanced over two dozen heroines over the decades. However,
this is probably the first time he will be seen romancing somebody who
is less than one-third his age! His muse in this movie is 18 year old
Jiah Khan, daughter of yesteryear actress Rubiya. Nishabd is Jiah’s
debut movie although initially her debut movie was going to be Anurag
Basu's Tumsa Nahi Dekha, but was replaced by Dia Mirza.
Nishabd is supposedly Bollywood's version of Vladimir Nakobov's novel
Lolita, about a 60-year old married man's romance with an 18-year old
girl. RGV's take, however, as always, is different. He claims his film
has nothing to do with the book.
RGV and Amitabh have formed a formidable pair with films like Sarkar and
Darna Zaroori Hai. It is also heard that Shah Rukh Khan is miffed with
RGV for unceremoniously shelving his SRK starrer Time Machine giving
preference to Big B’s Nishabd.
The film revolves around the romance of a 54-year old married man,
Vijay, played by Bachchan with a girl, Jiya, 36 years younger than him.
During her vacation, Jiya visits her friend's home. Her friend meets
with an accident and Jiah ends up asking her father (Amitabh Bachchan)
to take her out for sight seeing. During the sight seeing, Jiya falls in
love with Amitabh Bachchan though the latter is as old as her father.
The movie is scheduled to heat the screens up on 29th Sep, 2006.
